SAVANNAH, GA, February 8, 2013 Led by an increase in the number of buyers generated by national marketing efforts, The Landings Company has announced that Savannah’s Landings community has just completed a year with home sales (closings) more than double 2009.
According to Savannah Board of Realtors data, the community saw 217 home transactions close between January 1 and December 31, 2012, a 21.2% increase over the 179 that had closed in 2011. As a reference, Chatham County single family home sales (in areas other than Skidaway Island) increased by 9.4% in 2012 vs. 2011. Just 99 homes closed in the community in 2009.
The Landings Company, the community-owned real estate marketing and sales office, fared even better. Home buyers through The Landings Company were up a robust 40.2% in 2012 over the prior year, and the total number of Landings property buyers or listings sold through The Landings Company has increased from 110 in 2009 to 289 in 2012 – nearly tripling in 3 years.
“Our results have been driven in part by the strategic marketing that has made out-of-area pre-retirees more aware of our community,” states Bill Houghton, President of The Landings Company. “We have some great advantages that are tough to match – amenities, climate, and a city like Savannah at our doorstep – and the support of our residents is crucial to our success.”
The Landings Company is itself a bit of a unique entity – a self-funding, community-owned real estate firm created after their developer transitioned out in the late 1990s. “Our only source of marketing funds is the transactions we generate, so we function somewhat as a non-profit – net revenues go directly to driving more awareness and buyers,” adds Houghton. “That level of community commitment speaks volumes to folks considering a move – Landings residents own the main driver of buyers to the community, and all share in the success of The Landings Company’s efforts.”
